GreenPan Reviews: Their cookware lines reviewed

No one loves to do dishes. That’s why nonstick cookware is extremely popular amongst consumers. However, the chemicals used to make most non-stick pans, along with the fact that the nonstick surface can flake and peel under certain conditions, means these cookware sets aren’t completely worry-free. That’s where GreenPan steps in. The company motto is, “We’re proud of the things we don’t put in our pans.” Here we will tackle everything you need to know about GreenPan cookware, including our Green Pan reviews.

The exterior of this striking set of pans is finished with Evershine technology, which keeps the stainless steel looking as good as new even after vigorous use. The diamond-reinforced ceramic nonstick coating makes the surface quite durable, but you may want to skip the metal utensils and the dishwasher since they can cause the ceramic to chip. Overall GreenPan Rio Reviews

GreenPan Rio Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, Cookware Pots and Pans Set, 16-Piece, Black

The phenomenal heat distribution with these pots and pans means you can cook at lower temperatures. If you love a pop of color to liven up your kitchen, the turquoise color of these pans will certainly do the trick. However, you will need to handle this set with care.

Though the manufacturer says these pots are dishwasher safe, the set is far less likely to chip if you hand wash them and use silicone utensils. If you don’t mind putting in the extra care, this lovely and functional set could be just what you’re looking for.

Overall GreenPan Paris Pro Reviews

GreenPan Paris Pro 11pc Ceramic Non-Stick Cookware Set, Grey - The Paris Pro collection combines class with convenience in a set that provides a variety of pots and pans featuring the signature GreenPan Thermolon nonstick technology.

With the hard anodized body, you get a set of cookware that is meant to last. The lids for this particular set are all stainless steel with no glass. If you are a cook who likes to be able to see into the pot without lifting the lid, this set might not be for you.

However, if you do a lot of stovetop to oven transfer, these lids are oven safe to 600 degrees. The glass lids are only oven-safe to 425 degrees. Which lids will work best depends largely on your maximum temperature needs. Since the lids are all stainless steel, they can become very hot, so just make sure to have an oven mitt handy when trying to remove these lids.

Overall GreenPan Padova Ceramic Reviews

GreenPan Padova Ceramic Non-Stick 10Pc Cookware Set, Light Blue - This stunning light blue Padova set features one of the sturdiest bodies that GreenPan manufactures. The duo-forged hard anodized body not only protects against warping but also provides excellent heat distribution and allows for cooking with lower temperatures.

This set includes an 8-quart stockpot, which is ideal if your cooking includes large batches of food such as sauces, stews, or even poaching a chicken. The tempered glass lids allow you to peak into your pots without losing heat and allow oven use to 425 degrees.

As with all of the GreenPan non-stick cookware, it is best for the longevity of the cookware that you use silicone or wooden utensils and hand wash with warm, soapy water after the pots and pans have cooled. The combination of beauty and durability in this set makes it a wonderful addition to any kitchen.

About Green Pan Cookware

Company History and Background

Green Pan is a Belgian brand that has gained fame and notoriety across the globe. Childhood friends Jan Helskens and Wim de Veirman developed this environmentally friendly and healthier style of nonstick cookware after they realized that traditional nonstick pans release toxins into the air when overheated.

They put together an expert team to design a beautiful and functional product that also addressed the problems with the harmful chemicals found in most nonstick cookware.

GreenPan Cookware Review

Appearance and Features

The appearance of this cookware will vary a bit based on the collection, but they are all equipped with some revolutionary features. The cornerstone of this cookware is the Thermolon ceramic used in every pot and pan. We will discuss this further in a bit. This specialized ceramic is reinforced with diamonds for a super durable surface.

Each piece is made from hard-anodized stainless steel for maximum strength and scratch resistance. This cookware is also known for its ability to heat up quickly and maintain perfect heat distribution. There are many other features specific to the cookware collection, and we will discuss those further in our GreenPan cookware reviews below.

What is Thermolon?

The beauty of Thermolon™ Minerals is that it doesn’t require the typical toxic chemicals to process. Traditional nonstick surfaces are manufactured using chemicals that can be released into the air when the cookware is overheated. Thermolon™ Minerals are derived from sand using a Sol-Gel process, which is simply a method for making solid materials from small molecules.

Thermolon™ Minerals are then sprayed onto the body of the cookware without using any glue or chemicals and cured in an oven. This is ideal for those who love the convenience of nonstick cookware but don’t want the toxins that can come with them.  It is a completely different type of nonstick coating.

Benefits of Cooking with Ceramic

Everything that’s great about ceramic is what nature gave it. It is naturally nonstick, hard, and durable. It can withstand much hotter temperatures than other surfaces, and it heats evenly for perfect cooking. Perhaps the best thing about ceramic is what it DOESN’T have; harmful chemicals. PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is commonly found in nonstick surfaces and are associated with low birth weight and suppressed immune systems. PFOA is labeled a likely carcinogen.

When these chemicals are released into the air, they release toxic fumes. They can be harmful to humans as well as the environment. With ceramic, you know that you are getting a surface that is nature-made and kind to the environment.  Green Pan SearSmart also makes it onto our list of best ceramic cookware sets.

How Does Green Pan Compare to Other Cookware?

GreenPan vs. All-Clad

While both cookware companies have non-stick products, GreenPan specializes specifically in non-stick cookware. All-Clad has only two collections of non-stick cookware, and the pieces are safe to 500 degrees, whereas GreenPan is safe to 600 degrees. All-Clad is on the higher end of cookware and comes at a higher price point. It is great for cooking all types of foods and can last a lifetime. Read more in our All-Clad cookware review.

GreenPan vs. Calphalon

Calphalon does make a collection of ceramic nonstick pans, similarly priced to GreenPan, but the pieces are only oven safe to 450 degrees and not broiler-safe at all. The sets come with a 10-year limited warranty, whereas the GreenPan collections come with a limited lifetime warranty and 2 years warranty on the ceramic coatings. Read more in our Calphalon review.

GreenPan vs. Caraway

Caraway ceramic non-stick cookware has a similar construction to GreenPan at a bit of a higher price. Some sets have oven-safe stainless steel handles, but some are rubberized. The Caraway pans are oven safe to 550 degrees. Caraway is offered almost exclusively on its website and offers free storage accessories with the purchase of a Caraway set such as a magnetic pan rack and canvas lid sleeve. GreenPan offers a variety of cookware sets, but Caraway only sells one signature set. You can learn more in our Caraway reviews.

GreenPan Rio Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, Frypan, 10", Black

GreenPan vs. Copper Chef

The Copper Chef non-stick collections are a little lower priced than GreenPan. They are safe to use on all cooking surfaces, including induction and are oven safe to 850 degrees. The pan construction is a little thinner than GreenPan and more susceptible to warping and stains.  Learn more in our Copper Chef cookware review.

GreenPan vs. Mauviel

Mauviel is an elite brand of copper cookware made in France, and the sets are around $1000 or more. Mauviel is safe for all cooking surfaces, including induction and broiler safe. The non-stick pans in this brand are also PFOA and PTFE free. The products come with a limited lifetime warranty.  Read more in our Mauviel review.

GreenPan vs. 360 Cookware

360 Cookware only comes in stainless steel; there are no non-stick options. Also, an elite brand of high-quality cookware, a 9-piece set, will cost roughly $1000. This company does boast of green processes in their manufacturing process of its products and is constantly working toward reducing the carbon footprint. Read more in our 360 Cookware Review.

GreenPan vs. Gotham Steel

Gotham Steel products are slightly lower priced than GreenPan. A 12-piece set costs around $115. These pans are also PFOA and PTFE-free and are safe to use on all cooktops except induction. They are oven safe to 500 degrees. The ceramic coating is supported by titanium and not diamond-infused like GreenPan. Learn more in our Gotham Steel Reviews.

GreenPan vs Lagostina

Lagostina is an Italian cookware company. Lagostina is not the priciest on the market, but a 10-inch frypan will generally cost around $60. The body of their nonstick products is made from hard-anodized stainless steel, and the lids are hammered stainless steel. They are oven safe to 500 degrees and also come toxin-free.

GreenPan Rio Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, Sauté Pan with Lid, 5QT, Turquoise

GreenPan vs. Circulon

Circulon nonstick cookware is similarly priced to GreenPan, is induction cooktop safe, and oven safe to 500 degrees. However, Circulon total nonstick system has PTFE-coated cookware on their nonstick surfaces.  Read more in our Circulon review.

GreenPan vs. Viking

Viking hard anodized nonstick cookware is a bit more expensive than GreenPan. A 10-piece set will run around $500. Viking pots and pans are safe to use on all cooking surfaces, including induction but are only temperature safe to 400 degrees. These pans are PFOA-free and come with a limited lifetime warranty. Learn more in our Viking cookware review.

GreenPan vs. Hestan

Hestan is a premier cookware company that doesn’t have a wide range of nonstick options, and since the products are handcrafted in Italy, they can be quite expensive. A single nonstick frypan is about $200. The exterior is triple bonded stainless steel, and the nonstick surface features Hestan’s TITUM system. This 5-layer system consists of three layers of PFOA-free nonstick reinforced with diamond particles and anchored to the pan with durable titanium plasma technology.  Learn more in our Hestan cookware review.

GreenPan Rio Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, Cookware Pots and Pans Set, 16-Piece, Black

GreenPan vs Farberware

Farberware ceramic cookware is inexpensive but not quite as sturdy as you would find with GreenPan. The pans are not safe for induction cooktops and are only temperature safe to 350-400 degrees, possibly because the handles are not stainless steel. Learn more in our Farberware cookware review.

GreenPan vs Le Creuset

Le Creuset is an iconic name in the cookware industry. The most well-known pieces from this company are enameled cast iron, but they do have a nonstick line. With the Le Creuset name, expect to pay a higher price. An eight-piece set is about $600. Each piece features a hard-anodized body, a PFOA-free nonstick surface, and stay cool handles. Check out our Le Creuset review for more details.

GreenPan vs. T-Fal

T-Fal has been a standard of inexpensive cookware for a while. They do have a line of nonstick cookware that is titanium reinforced and PFOA free. The pans are only oven safe to 350-400 degrees. Learn more in our T-Fal cookware review.

Green Pan vs. Anolon

Anolon nonstick cookware has a sapphire reinforced, PFOA-free nonstick surface. The pans have silicone wrapped stainless steel handles and are oven safe to 400 degrees. See our Anolon review for more about this brand.

Final Thoughts About GreenPan Cookware and Our Green Pan Reviews

GreenPan Lima Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, Cookware Pots and Pans Set, 12 Piece, Gray These pans are safer for your home and the environment without sacrificing an ounce of quality. A few things to keep in mind, however, is that you will prolong the life of these pans by using silicone or wooden utensils and washing them by hand. Also, don’t expect to use these pans without a little bit of oil. The surface is truly nonstick, but a little oil will ensure that your cookware will maintain its easy-to-clean surface for a long time.
