Kamikoto Knives Reviews: Are they good?

Sharing is caring!

Kamikoto is a Chinese knife manufacturer that uses time-honored techniques to create traditional-style Japanese blades. To stay current, several Japanese knife makers include new styling details. Kamikoto, on the other hand, adheres strictly to a classic aesthetic. Learn more about them in this Kamikoto knives review.

The distinct Kamikto quality is the most noticeable in their single-bevel blades. Also referred to as “chisel” blades, this technique produces a single, razor-sharp edge. As a result, Kamikoto knives need owners to employ a different cutting method than conventional knives.

Once you get used to this process, it provides unparalleled control and accuracy. It’s also regarded as robust when compared to Western kitchen knives. They have a good weight to them that allows the user to have great control over their cutting.

Since the Edo era, the island of Honshu, particularly the city of Niigata, has had an illustrious history of metalworking that dates back centuries. Through this business of blacksmiths and metal artisans, Kamikoto got involved, and they have maintained their skill to this day.  Kamikoto Knives Reviews

Overall Kamikoto Santoku Chef Knife Review

If you want to try out one Kamikoto knife before committing to a set, the Kamikoto Santoku Chef Knife is a great option. It’s a very sharp edge, super-hard steel, high-quality craftsmanship, and reasonably priced.

Kamikoto 7in. Santoku Chef Knife

This is a well-balanced, multipurpose knife that can be used for chopping, slicing, shredding, and dicing. The cut is precise and clean, the grip is secure, and the blade is gorgeous.

This knife is an exquisite work of art. Those who already have all the knives they need in a set would appreciate this impressive knife. It also makes a great gift because it comes with the storage and gift package.

As with the other Kamikoto knives I reviewed, the hand-forged steel blades are robust and corrosion-resistant. The blades have a single bevel design. A single cutting edge enables finer, more precise cuts. Additionally, the single cutting edge prevents veggies from adhering to the blade the same way they do with multiple cutting edges. Again, this would be a great purchase if you want to try out Kamikoto knives without committing to an entire set.

Why choose Kamikoto knives?

Although Kamikoto is headquartered in Japan, its premium knives are manufactured in Yanjiang, China. While this fact has enraged some online reviewers, I believe their worries are exaggerated.

Furthermore, some say that Kamikoto knives are not genuine “traditional” Japanese knives and counterfeits. Further, argue that Kamikoto knives are not traditional Japanese knives.

Although specific Kamikoto blades are bigger and heavier than one would expect from a Japanese knife, they function well in their intended role as knives. Knifemakers in Japan are not restricted to the production of ultra-thin, single-beveled blades, as is often believed.

Kamikoto is more than robust enough for everyday kitchen usage. With a bit of care and attention, they’ll retain their razor-sharp edge for years to come. This puts them on a level with Miyabi knives or any other high-end brand, which is very impressive. Even though I do not believe Kamikoto are inherently superior, these knives allow you to cut much more rapidly than most other blades.

While many aspects to consider when purchasing kitchen knives, the most critical is that you want high-carbon forged blades that are simple to sharpen and retain their edge effectively.

About Kamikoto Knives

While choosing a knife is very subjective, based on how reviews have raved about the Kamikoto knives, I am sure that they are among the most popular knives available.

Looks and feel

The satin-finished appear more natural and resist scratches better than a high-gloss finish. These beautiful knives are presented in an ash wood storage case that is both functional and attractive. It also includes a certificate of authenticity to prove its validity.

Handling

The innovative handle design is comfortable and large enough to fit your hand comfortably. While these knives are perfectly balanced, resulting in a pleasant cutting experience.

Additionally, the bolster features a slight taper, which provides control without obstructing your motions. Half of the bolster is also half the length of the knife.

Versatility

Kamikoto knives are excellent for chopping, slicing, shredding, and dicing. The more weight the user feels, the more control they have while cutting. I’d suggest these knives to amateur, pro chefs alike and to anyone in need of blades capable of handling heavy-duty usage while delivering outstanding outcomes.

Sharpness

Absolute precision is where Kamikoto’s blades really shine. The edges are forged, honed, then sharpened and polished. Each Knife goes through 19 steps before distribution.

A perfect result is a Rockwell Shore Hardness of 60. Although it’s capable of sustaining a sharp edge, steel will chip if dropped on a hard surface. The belly of the blade gives greater control over fast-cutting actions.

Price

These knives are very high quality and the price reflects that. However, you can often find discounts on Kamikoto knives, making them a reasonable purchase for many consumers.

What are Kamikoto knives made of?

The company produces upscale Japanese-style knives that are handmade from Japanese Honshu steel. Its steel is heated in Kamikoto’s forge.

The handles are made of high-durability G-10 — the incorporated glass fibers make G-10 robust and water-resistant.

As a result, as opposed to wooden handles, the blades are not harmed by moisture or mildew. In addition, with resin coating, you can ensure that the handles will not rust or oxidize. They also will not shrink, crack, or become brittle, nor will they soften with use.

No. We recommend cleaning the knives by hand. The use of a dishwasher for any high-quality knives will result in the blade getting dull much more rapidly.
