Overall Lamson Fire Forged 16-Piece Block Set Review

This knife set is a stylish addition to your kitchen that comes with every knife you will need for cooking and then some, plus one central place to store them safely.  Whether cutting vegetables or slicing meats, the ergonomically designed acrylic handles will have you wield the knives with ease and in style. I particularly love this set because the handles are reminiscent of lava lamps with the red marbleized design. Pairing the red color with the light brown in the maple knife block creates a stylish yet aesthetically pleasing addition to your countertop.  The knife blades themselves are durable and slice through any food material like butter. In addition, the 10-inch steel rod is available to sharpen any blade that may lose its edge for consistent maintenance and proper care of such important kitchen items. Style and high quality that will last for years, what more could you want?

Overall Lamson Fire 3-Piece Knife Set Review

If a 16-piece set seems like too many knives, you may find that the three-piece set has more of what you want. The three-piece is a great purchase because it comes with the basic knives chefs could need for any type of cooking. The handles, which are designed to look like flames and smoke blended into one piece, are hard acrylic that is durable, easy to use, and comfortable to grip.  The only major downside of this set is unless you have already purchased one, you would have to make an additional purchase of the steel rod to sharpen the knives compared to the 16-piece, which includes the steel rod. Another potential downside is not having a safe storage option like a block for these knives unless you have a block with extra slots or dedicated storage space in your kitchen.  Overall, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and for the price, I would say the three-piece is worth the buy.

Overall Lamson 8-inch Chef Knife Review

If you are shopping for a new knife made with design and function in mind, this chef’s knife comes at the top of the list. What makes this chef’s knife great is the blade is long and thick enough to prepare anything you need when cooking. The size is also not too heavy, which can be a concern for people with small hands like myself.

Overall Lamson 8-inch Vintage Chef’s Knife Review

Lamson 8" Vintage Chef Knife Another option in a chef’s knife, the Vintage line, is made for those who find pleasure in the traditional look of kitchen knives. As cool as modern designs are, I prefer the Vintage knives series because the laser-cut blades are broad enough to capture any cooking project, no matter the size. In addition, the walnut wood material gives a timeless look, which complements well with brass rivets. Altogether, the Vintage series features beautiful, sleek, and ergonomically complete knives. Compared to other cutlery, the Vintage chef’s knife is a great choice.

About Lamson Knives

History of Lamson Knives

Lamson is an American cutlery manufacturer founded in 1837 in Massachusetts. Since its founding, Lamson has spent the past nearly 200 years continuing to manufacture professional cutlery. They operate in Massachusetts, with a factory in Westfield and a retail store nearly an hour away in Lamson’s founding city, Shelburne Falls.  The retail store has all Lamson knives and products available for purchase. If you aren’t on the East Coast or even in the United States, you can purchase any Lamson product online via the Lamson website or on Amazon.

Product Lines

Lamson products are categorized into two product lines, Premier Forged and Vintage.

Brand Specifics

Within the Premier Forged line are two sub-lines: Premier Forged Fire and Premier Forged Midnight. We won’t be featuring the Midnight knives in this Lamson knives review, but all knives mentioned here are available in the Midnight series. All Lamson knives are handmade, forged out of either German or US stainless steel with varying handle materials, including resin-infused ebony, acrylic, natural wood, and walnut.  Regardless of the steel, Lamson knives follow the traditional construction of German-style knives: full tang blades, bolsters to protect hands, balance, durability, and stability.

Lamson Knives FAQ

Lamson Fire Forged 6-inch Chef Knife

Where are Lamson Knives Made?

Lamson knives are made in Westfield, Massachusetts, USA.

What is Lamson Warranty?

Buying any Lamson item comes with a limited lifetime warranty against any material or manufacturer’s defects. The warranty excludes knives that were damaged because of dishwasher use, hot-water damage, and if used in a way the knife was not intended, like to open containers. If, after inspection, the Lamson team members find that the knife is deemed eligible for repair or replacement, it will be done free of charge. It is best to send in your knives with packing materials to prevent further damage to the items.

Are Lamson Knives Dishwasher Safe?

No. It is recommended that Lamson knives not be cleaned via dishwasher. Instead, it is best to hand wash your knives with warm water and soap. To further preserve the longevity and quality of your knife, you should also dry and store your knife immediately after washing.  Regardless of the brand, all high-quality knives are made to be handled with care. If you want your knives to last a long time, proper maintenance is always the best choice.

Are Lamson Knives Forged or Stamped?

Lamson offers forged and laser-cut cutlery (laser-cut, to my knowledge, is a type of stamped production). Learn more about Forged vs. Stamped knives here.

Why Should You Buy Lamson Knives?

As the oldest cutlery company in the country, Lamson knives has an edge on other manufacturers, having spent nearly 200 years developing quality knives that are worth your money while also catering to what chefs want to use in their kitchen again and again.  You should buy Lamson knives because they have made different knives that account for different needs.  Whether you are trying to find new and modern designs or traditional and long-known, Lamson cutlery has the perfect find for everyone.

Final Thoughts About Lamson Knives

Lamson Knife Reviews As someone who tries to “buy local” and support small businesses, I like to expand that thinking when supporting bigger brands as well. I take pride in investing my money in a company that creates great quality material made in the best place: at “home.” After the extensive research in creating this Lamson knives review, it is easy to see that Lamson knives are a great example of providing top-tier items at a mid-range price that will last for years to come. If you have done any type of search on Google or Amazon for German-style knives, you will see that Lamson knives can hold their own in the cutlery game. Their cutting-edge designs alone make me want to run to my kitchen and get cooking right away.  Overall, regardless of which Lamson knife comes into your kitchen, you will find one of the best tools at your disposal.
